Paint removal begun. Of course we come across an area or two where decay has taken some elements back to the earth. As evidenced by the pink insulation visible in the lower right. View fullsize

Bay window with 11" wide solid wood casing with lots of paint layers. Probably old growth lumber and if so definitely worth stripping and saving! View fullsize

These broad surfaces are the perfect application for Metabo's paint planer, which is very effecient, has the finesse not to gauge up surfaces and hooks up to our HEPA vac. View fullsize

Sanding completed. This bay window was stripped and finish sanded in less than 8 hours. View fullsize

Look at the restored integrity of that surface.
In case you're counting, there's 135 growth rings in 11" of width. Yes, old growth Fir and definitely worth it! View fullsize
